Boca Ciega Millennium Park Dog Park
A 1.5-acre off-leash area inside a much larger nature preserve, with more history literally buried underground than you'd expect.
π°οΈ History & background
True to its name, Boca Ciega Millennium Park was dedicated on April 7, 2001, right at the turn of the millennium, and the city buried a time capsule with over 100 items inside β meant to stay sealed for 100 years. The preserve turned out to hold history well before that, too: a 2007 excavation uncovered Ice Age-era fossils, including bison remains, dating back to the tail end of the Pleistocene epoch.
π What's there now
A boardwalk, observation tower, and birding trail to explore afterward, with separate fenced sections for large and small dogs inside a 186-acre coastal preserve.
