Lassing Park
A quiet, 14-acre bayfront gem in the Old Southeast neighborhood, born from a single act of generosity a century ago.
π°οΈ History & background
Lassing Park owes its existence to a single donation. In 1924, Judge Robert B. Lassing gave waterfront land to the city on the condition that any structures on it be used for park purposes, and the city added more land in 1926, 1944, and 1945. The park was officially dedicated on January 8, 1942, and its Old Southeast setting β full of 1920s bungalows β has kept it feeling like a genuine local secret rather than a tourist stop, even a century later.
π What's there now
No fenced dog park here, but it's a favorite for a peaceful leashed walk with sunrise views and tidal flats at low tide β the entire eastern border hugs Tampa Bay.
