πŸ•°οΈ History & background

Kenneth City has one of the more personal origin stories in Pinellas County. What's now a small incorporated town began as 340 acres of pasture land, and was officially chartered on April 30, 1957 by developer Sidney Colen, who named the town after his son, Kenneth. Colen intended it as a "model community" and reportedly took the entire population β€” more than 450 residents and guests at the time β€” out to dinner to celebrate the town's new charter. It remains its own municipality today, distinct from St. Petersburg, with a population of around 5,000.

πŸ• What's there now

Consistently well-kept and a little less crowded than the in-city options, which makes the short drive worth it for a lot of St. Pete dog owners.

Worth a stop: Ahumados Malboa, a well-loved Cuban restaurant right in Kenneth City, known for smoked pork and homestyle plates.
